Dependable compact cars are a great way to travel and go about your daily commute. They offer efficiency and convenience in a car that can contain more than meets the eye. With so many compact cars around today, which one is right for you?

We decided to take a look at two of them to help drivers in Middletown, Odessa and Dover decide. We created this 2018 Hyundai Accent vs. Nissan Versa comparison to highlight what these dependable compact cars have to offer.

Driving Performance

The 2018 Hyundai Accent offers sporty performance for a fun drive. It runs on a 1.6L Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine that gets 130 horsepower.

It offers you a choice of transmissions to pair with this engine. A 6-speed manual is standard, but there is an option for a 6-speed automatic with SHIFTRONIC® manual controls. This gives you the freedom to change gears without a clutch.

The 2018 Nissan Versa doesn't offer as much power under the hood. It has a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine that only generates 109 horsepower. It also offers a manual and an automatic transmission, but it doesn't give you the same kind of control over your drive as the SHIFTRONIC®.

Style & Design

Both inside and out, the 2018 Hyundai Accent is a sleek, modern-looking car. It has a wide black mesh front grille that's bordered by sharp diagonal headlights.

Its raised roof and trunk make it appear larger, while its rounded and streamlined design render it both stylish and aerodynamic.

Inside, the dashboard is designed to blend the infotainment system into the dashboard seamlessly. This creates a great modern look that fits with your drive.

The Versa doesn't offer the same impression, as the sloping top and hood causes the Versa to appear smaller than the Accent, and the grille shape heightens that notion.

Inside, the infotainment screen looks appears small on the dashboard and is dwarfed by the buttons that surround it.

Technology

In addition to offering a fun drive and great looks, the 2018 Hyundai Accent makes sure you're entertained and connected during your drive, too.

In the center of your dashboard you'll find an audio touchscreen for your infotainment system. A 5-inch screen is standard, but you can upgrade to a 7-inch one.

Here you can check behind you with the rearview camera or sync up your smartphone. Both Apple CarPlayâ„¢ and Android Autoâ„¢ are available.

The system is also Bluetooth® compatible, so you'll be able to make hands-free phone calls.

The Hyundai Accent was designed with backseat passengers in mind. There are USB charging ports for back passengers, so everyone's phones can stay fully powered.

You'll still be able to connect with your Hyundai after unplugging your smartphone. With Blue Link® Connected Car Service you can start the engine, adjust the temperature, locate the car and lock and unlock it with a smartphone app.

The 2018 Nissan Versa also has a dashboard screen infotainment system, but it doesn't offer the same kind of entertainment or connectivity. There's no option for Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™ and no mobile app keeping you connected like Blue Link®.
