Hyundai offered a few sneak peak of its newly-redesigned 2019 Santa Fe at recent auto shows, giving enthusiasts something to be excited about. Sharp styling cues, improved technology features and brand-new engine options and mechanical components hint at what's to come for the newest version of this practical SUV.

If you're looking for a new SUV in Middletown, Odessa or Dover, the upcoming Santa Fe will undoubtedly catch your attention. Learn more about these model-year updates with our 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe first look.

Performance

This model comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine that produces 185 horsepower. The optional engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 232 horsepower, which is a powerful match for the three-row XL model. The newest engine variant is a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 200 horsepower, which will likely bring an increase in available power and fuel efficiency.

Some of these engines carry over from the predecessor, but they're given new life with the new eight-speed automatic transmission with optional all-wheel drive. This advanced transmission adapts to each of these engine options, ensuring that you can access the power you need from any of these capable engines.

Styling

Style updates came for both the interior and exterior of the new Santa Fe, giving it a more upscale look and a cohesive design that's bound to turn heads. While still recognizable as a Hyundai vehicle, thanks to a cascading grille and modern, narrow headlights, the subtle sculpting, high beltline and balanced proportions blend these bold features into a profile that's both classic and fresh.

Inside, this vehicle favors contemporary themes with a multi-tiered dash, a high-mounted infotainment system and futuristic styling touches. The materials improved as well, with soft-touch surfaces, supple fabrics and elegant accents.

Safety and Technology

The Santa Fe now comes with an array of advanced safety features, such as automated emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, driver-attention warning and rear cross-traffic alert. Two unique safety features for the Santa Fe are the Safe Exit Assist, which keeps the doors locked if a vehicle, motorcycle or cyclist are approaching from the rear, and the Rear Occupant Alert system, which uses a sensor to detect movement from a child or pet from the backseat.

For technology, the standard infotainment system for all models includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. A Qi wireless charging pad and speed-sensitive volume control are also included, which improve the connectivity and driving experience in the Santa Fe.

The infotainment system is compatible with many music streaming apps, which are enhanced by the premium, 630-watt QuantumLogic surround-sound system with 12 speakers. Clari-Fi technology is also included with this system, which restores the sound quality of digitally-altered music for improved clarity.
